With evidence of wine production in Norfolk dating back to Roman times, our region has a rich winemaking history. Today, with VisitEngland identifying wine tourism as a major growth sector, Norwich is embracing its place in this expanding industry. Inspired by the 19-year success of English Wine Week, Norwich BID launched Norwich Wine Week to help local businesses tap into this trend.
The first Norwich Wine Week in 2023 brought a vibrant series of wine-themed events to venues across the city, concluding with a festival in Chapelfield Gardens. This supported post-COVID recovery for hospitality and attracted visitors from across the region. The festival featured 25 pop-up events, 13 exhibitors, and welcomed 1,400 attendees.
Building on this success, the 2024 edition grew to 27 events, with 1,700 attending the Chapelfield Gardens festival that launched the celebrations. Norwich Wine Week quickly became a fixture on the city’s cultural calendar.
In 2025, the event evolved. A new, more intimate experience called Uncorked was introduced at historic Dragon Hall, hosting 180 guests and 10 local exhibitors. This shift helped focus on driving visitors directly into Norwich’s businesses. As a result, 30 events, promotions, and themed menus were offered across the city, deepening engagement with locals and tourists.
Backed by a bespoke brand, robust marketing, and strong partnerships with local vineyards, Norwich Wine Week has elevated Norfolk’s wine scene, strengthened ties between producers and hospitality venues, and placed the region on the national wine tourism map.
